It can also be applied as a food preservative, for cleaning and disinfection, and as an additive in commercial cleaning products, such as rust removers, multi-purpose cleaners, degreasers, and professional laundry products.

In addition, it is used for pH control in the Saarberg-Hoelter-Umwelttechnik (SHU) fuel gas desulfurization process.
